#1 It is not an ABSOLUTE NEED to find the ultimate love of your life in college. Every one of your friends may seem to have their perfect pairs, but that doesn’t mean you absolutely HAVE to. You went to college to grow as a badass engineer both emotionally and mentally. If you DO find the love of your life there—then lucky you.

#2 Your many college hook ups and dates DON’T define you or your love life. You are the only person that can define yourself and your love life.

#3 Change is the only thing constant in the world—as engineers, we all know that. It’s the same with our everyday tastes, wants, and possibly our love for someone, they can all change as well—and there is nothing wrong with that.

#4 Make your own rules for making love. This includes who you want and don’t want to sleep with, and when you think the time is right. What feels right for you is what matters.

#5 There will be that guy or girl who ignores your texts but know this, there will be someone who will. Don’t get too hung up on people who don’t appreciate you.

#6 Breakups hurt. There’s no question about that, but don’t feel that you will never be whole again. Every physical would heals, and so will your broken heart. Solving calculus or thermodynamics may help in the process—tried and tested.

#7 When everything in your life gets to its lowest point (grades, grades, lovelife, allowance, and more grades), find one positive event that can come out from your situation. It may lead you to a new opportunity, solution, a better outcome, or a new lesson in life.

# 8 Love isn’t all butterflies in your stomach, puking out rainbows, and finding the perfect one. Love is more of being yourself with a person and trusting them.

#9 It is never a good idea to leave your friends for your new partner. Period.

#10 Don’t be in a toxic relationship. Being in engineering is toxic enough. If the relationship you’re in makes you doubt yourself and makes you more sad than joyful, then get out! You don’t need this kind of relationship.
