Engineers who are involved in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industries are bound to work together in promoting sustainable building system design and efficient industrial processes – after all, there is a significant overlap between these trades. One way to enable this cooperation between the engineers is by having an organization to serve as their platform.

That is what ASHRAE does. ASHRAE is a global organization which advances human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment.

ASHRAE is the world’s biggest organization which advances the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR).

With more than 56,000 members from over 143 countries, the society has a mission to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world with excellence, commitment, integrity, collaboration and volunteerism as its core values.

As a global platform, ASHRAE keeps an arsenal of tools and services for the benefit of its members. These include ASHRAE Handbooks & Standards, ASHRAE Publications, ASHRAE Learning Institute Courses, and ASHRAE Research, as well as access to distinguished lecturers and world-class conferences.

In response to a growing need for training specific to practitioners in the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) regions, the Society established the Global Training Center for Building Excellence in Dubai. It is the first ASHRAE office outside of ASHRAE headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Set to be inaugurated on September 19, 2017, the center will serve building systems professionals in the Gulf Region and surrounding areas. Its focus is to make and deliver high-quality curricula-based training conveniently available on a regular schedule.

Because it is located in Dubai, the training being offered is designed to be relevant to the needs of Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA) practitioners. That means they are customized for climate, culture, suppliers, energy sources, prices, codes and construction practices for the MENA region.

Moreover, the instructors at this training center are practicing engineers already familiar with the HVACR specifications in the Middle East.

The initial course offerings at the Global Training Center have already been scheduled. The first will be conducted on September 10, discussing the HVAC Design Essentials. Currently, the Center has courses scheduled until April 2018 covering a range of topics. Details of the courses are found on this website (click here).

The new training center in Dubai is a milestone for the global organization as it continues to diversify and make itself accessible to HVACR professionals on a global scale.
