The whole world grieves for we have lost him from a respiratory illness that was complicated by Parkinson’s disease. He died at a hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and his funeral will take place at his home in Louisville, Kentucky.

His career was legendary and his personality was unforgettable. Cassius Clay changed his name and told the world he wanted to be called Muhammad Ali and he is The Greatest! The boxing legend fought hard and won his battles under the spotlight. When he retired from boxing, people still sought after him for inspiration, amateur boxers idolized him and the world still loves him.

A boxing fan or not, you have to admit that you’ve heard about him and we can’t deny that it is in his dedication and commitment to his craft that made him one of the most memorable athletes of all time and became a significant part of pop culture. Though boxing may be way too different from the field of engineering, we can still learn a lot from Muhammad Ali.

For every engineering student who has to endure all the hardships school has to offer and to all the aspiring engineers who are struggling to find their place and passion in their careers, may we be reminded by Muhammad Ali’s story that it is in our belief of ourselves and hard work that help us achieve success. Ali had a lot of inspiring words to motivate us to be the greatest just like The Greatest himself.
